The journey of Moordale Secondary School’s students is something that’ll fascinate you while watching Sex Education. This Netflix series is truly refreshing and relevant to the age that we live in. It explores relationships and a range of issues that teenagers have to deal with. Sex Education is also a perfect material for binge-watching. Of course, it has some of the tropes you might’ve come across in movies or television series.

However, the series has characters that possess some complex emotions. It’s not only about the teenagers but also about adults in the series. They all seem to be struggling with their own issues. This series is undoubtedly great, but which one among the episodes is the best according to you? Well, here are the ones liked by most of the audiences:

1. Season 1, Episode 5

To go and watch a movie, Otis and Eric are dressing up in drag and Maeve gets in Otis’s way. She is on a mission to find the one who leaked a photo of Ruby’s vagina. Maeve drags Otis along with her. They continue to bond and hunt down the perpetrator together. Once they’re done with what they set out to do, they walk back and share a quiet moment.

You begin getting hints of how close Otis and Maeve have got. One of them is the fact that she keeps the jumper that he gave her through the season. To be with her, Otis ditches Eric at the last moment. He gets robbed and assaulted for dressing like a woman. This is one of the key moments in the episode.

It shows Otis defending himself in a stern way. It also shows how teenagers are capable of inflicting torture upon one another psychologically. The episode also shows how they can also stand up for one another. In a way, this episode balances chaos and calm in a perfect way.

2. Season 2, Episode 7

After the grand house-party, Otis realizes that he has lost his virginity to Ruby. She now requires the morning after pill. When you see their journey together, you see Ruby as a person. She is so different than the image of her at school. The scene is also quite moving in which Otis tries to apologize to Maeve.

Her reaction to this is pretty cold. She later narrates this to Aimee who says that he was wasted. Meanwhile, the group of girls – Maeve, Aimee, Ola, Viv, Lily, and Olivia get some detention. Somebody has written defamatory things on the wall about their teacher.

Maeve and Ola care for Aimee who has been a victim of sexual assault. All the girls show up to help her get to the bus. This is the best part of this episode when the girls stop fighting over boys. They bond over their shared womanhood instead.

3. Season 1, Episode 3

At the clinic, Maeve is told that somebody must pick her up after the abortion procedure. This part is one of the major highlights of the first season. The song Asleep by The Smiths plays when she is getting an abortion. She reluctantly chooses Otis to pick her up after the procedure since Aimee can’t do it. The episode focused on the emotional aspect of abortion.

It showed how the entire experience can affect a woman who goes through it. This episode truly shows who the real Maeve is. She is told something quite meaningful by a mother of three at the clinic. Maeve is told that she needs to keep the sweet ones around for a happy life.

The Netflix series, Sex Education, has set a new standard with all its three seasons. It has been a masterclass of sorts for the teenage audiences. Unlike many of its other counterparts, this show seems to have got it right with its queer Black characters.

Who is this series for?

This British series is set in the fictional village of Moordale. It revolves around Otis, a teen who starts a makeshift practice offering sex therapy. However, the real sex therapist here is his mother, Jean. The character of Otis is played by Asa Butterfield and Gillian Anderson plays the role of his mom.

If you’re someone who is obsessed with shows about younger folks, this will be a perfect series to watch. The characters Otis and Jean are undoubtedly the backbone of Sex Education. They hold up the premise of this series. Of course, the other characters also have an important role to play in its success. This is a teen series that doesn’t talk down to its audience.

It truly feels like the show has been written by someone with a deep understanding of high school teenagers. The creator of this series is Laurie Nunn, who is in her 30s at the moment. The cast of the series deserve all the praise. They’ve turned an intriguing idea into a fresh, funny, and truly inclusive television series.

The educational aspect of Sex Education

One can describe Sex Education as authentic, fearless, and imaginative. Of course, it’s educational as well, but doesn’t believe in preaching. Just like most of the shows, the Black cast is the secret ingredient of this Netflix series. Ncuti Gatwa plays a gay Black boy named Eric who is the best friend of Otis. He exudes joy and great confidence.

This series tackles all teenage issues ranging from academic pressures to sexual assault. It also helps you know what it means to be a non-binary teenager. With the success of this series, Gatwa has become a star! Kedar Williams-Stirling is impressive in his role as sweet jock Jackson.

As Viv, the overachiever, Chinenye Ezeudu also looks great. In Season 3 of the series, Cal is a new face and an outspoken non-binary student. The character is played by Dua Saleh. All these characters are cool and have the charisma to make their presence felt.

The series convey the frustrations resulting from living in a world where gender binaries are upheld. Sex Education is not just about the characters of color, disabilities, queerness or all of these qualities. It also delves deeper into their lives and stories.

How good is the series?

Being a show about teens, Sex Education might not get the praise for being a progressive depiction of therapy. It might not get the praise for having genuine scenes of sexual encounters either. Despite this, there’s something you’ll find worth praising about the series. It repackages tropes in a way that’ll not feel like stale at all.

There are chances of people misjudging Sex Education because of its humor. They might even overlook it for its smartness. Yet, the new-generation apps like TikTok has taught the world not to underestimate the youth. It will be a mistake, therefore, to miss out on this amazing series on Netflix.

This is a heart-breaking episode, which led to Gillian winning her Emmy award.

2. Triangle

Mulder is transported back in time in this 3rd episode of the 6th season. He’s in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle and the year is 1939. This episode is fun to watch as it shows Mulder’s trip to the past. Scully searches for him in the modern era. The two events happen simultaneously. In this episode, Mulder admits his love for Scully and it also has their first kiss.

It takes a satirical look at itself and the genre of science fiction, which is quite strange. This episode showcased the writing team’s skills in comedy.

6. The Post-Modern Prometheus

The agents investigate a mysterious creature in the 5th episode of the 5th season. This creature was seen by the locals of a small town. The episode was somewhere between reality and fantasy and mixed the classic monster tale with the series’ quirky nature. It was Chris Carter’s vision of a story inspired by Frankenstein. What made this episode even more memorable was Cher’s music.

For almost 25 years, The X-Files entertained the television audiences worldwide with its thrilling episodes. This classic sci-fi drama had two FBI agents exploring unusual cases involving aliens and UFOs. Every episode of the television series had an exciting dose of paranormal events.

The series even had a couple of film adaptations. Just like many of the popular television shows, The X-Files was also an inspiration for an online slot game. First, Aristocrat came up with a land-based slot themed on The X-Files. Later an online slot themed on the television series was released by Playtech.

An overview of The X Files online slot

This online slot game is pretty much based on the classic television show. You can test it on online casino like las atlantis. The FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully appear in this game as their 1993 versions. You’ll get to play this game on a set of 3×5 reels. There are 20 paylines in the game.

The maximum bet is 500 per spin and you can get started with coins at just 0.01. The X Files is a simple game. However, it gives you a few moments of thrills as well. Although there’s no official music from the show, you can hear some atmospheric music playing as you spin.

Multiplier wilds

In this game, you’ll come across nine regular symbols. They include the regular poker symbols with lower limits. They can pay 4 to 20x and 4 to 40x the line bet. Then there are symbols of Mulder and Scully silhouette, FBI torch, and alien hand. With these symbols, you can have prizes from 5 to 80x the line bet. Undoubtedly, the top payers of this game are these popular FBI agents.

One good thing to notice is that both Mulder and Scully symbols have the same pay. Three Mulder and Scully symbols will pay 10x, four will pay 40x, and five will pay 200x. Don’t forget to watch out for special multiplier wilds. They substitute for the game’s regular symbols other than scatter. The multipliers are 1x, 2x, 3x, or 5x. You can also earn some real cash with the wilds.

If you have three wilds, your bankroll will have an addition of 10x. Four and five wilds offer 40x and 200x. To add a little drama to your spin, the wilds spin in a ‘rift’ beneath the reels. The game also makes it possible for you to land multiple wilds on the reels. You can land them on the reels at the same time. In a single spin, the total number of multiplier you can land is worth 25x.

Triggering the free spins

You need to land just three or more UFO scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. This will activate a mysterious bonus feature. With three scatters, you can have seven free spins. You’ll get 10 free spins if you land four scatters and five will trigger 20 free games. Additionally, multiplier wild symbols also make their appearance during the games.

With the appearance of rifts, you can have a multiplier of 1x to 5x to the active payline. The wilds that appear would be locked in place. This happens for the duration of the other free spins. With this, the player has the chance to bag three or four wild rifts. The bonus game can prove lucrative for you if you’re lucky to hit 20 free games.

Gillian Anderson has impressed the film and television audiences worldwide with her brilliant performances. She’s famous for her role as Dana Scully in the classic sci-fi television series of the 1990s, The X-Files. Other memorable performances of this talented actress are in The Fall and The Crown.

Her role in the latter even got her a Golden Globe award. Here are some of the facts about Gillian that you might not be aware of:

1. The producers of X-Files believed she didn’t possess the sex appeal to play Scully

Fox Network sent Gillian the script for The X-Files after noticing her in the television show Class of ’96. She later recalled that she liked the character of Dana Scully after going through the script. It was for the first time that she came across an intelligent, strong, and independent female lead character.

The producers weren’t so keen to hire her as they thought she lacked the sex appeal for the role. However, the creator of The X-Files, Chris Carter, insisted on giving her the role.

2. Her classmates at high school voted her the one ‘most likely to be arrested’

Gillian’s family had moved to Puerto Rico for 15 months when she was an infant. Later, they went to London and were back in the United States when she was 11. During her time in London, she had to split her time between the United Kingdom and United States.

At the time, she was of an extremely rebellious nature. She was the kind of teenager who loved dressing as a punk. She even had to go through therapy. Her high school classmates were pretty much aware of this. They voted her the ‘most bizarre girl’ and ‘most likely to be arrested’.

3. She once vowed that she would never work in television

At the age of 22, Gillian moved to New York in order to pursue a film career. During those days, she had vowed never to work in television. After a year without work, she changed her mind. While sharing her experiences, she said that she was not keen on playing the film roles she auditioned for. Before the auditions, she had decided never to move to Los Angeles and never to do television shows.

4. She can make an easy switch between British and American accents

Much of her childhood was spent in the United Kingdom. Because of this, she often had to face bullies for her British accent when she attended her school in Michigan. Later, she adopted a mid-western accent rather quickly. This was mainly to fit in with her counterparts.

As a result, she could easily switch between the two accents. Once she was asked whether she considered herself an American or British. She found it quite tough to answer the question. She felt happy with London being her home, but was a little baffled with her identity.

5. She has co-written a book trilogy in the science fiction genre

Gillian has written a science fiction trilogy titled The Earthend Saga. She wrote this alongside Jeff Rovin. He is an author, and an editor and columnist for an American magazine. The book trilogy is about a child psychologist who investigates some supernatural incidents that are unexplainable in nature. These events involve young people.

She revealed once that the book series is also being adapted into a television series. In the year 2014, the first in this series called A Vision of Fire was released. A Dream of Ice came out a year later. The series concluded with the release of The Sound of Seas in 2016.

You might think of The X-Files the moment someone makes a mention of Gillian Anderson. She was brilliant in this immensely successful television series as the FBI agent, Dana Scully. Her more recent films and television shows include The Fall, The Spy Who Dumped Me, and Hannibal. In all of them, you can witness her exceptional ability to get out of her comfort zone.

Over the past couple of decades, Gillian has been quite busy. Regardless of this, the projects she has taken up have an element of notoriety. She gained a massive fan following after playing Dana Scully in The X-Files. Despite this, her place in the public eye has witnessed a downfall in recent years. The good news for her fans across the world is that she won’t be disappearing from television anytime soon.

She is the one who played the pragmatic Scully, and now she is portraying Margaret Thatcher. Gillian is an actress who has never rested on her laurels. She has also been constantly challenging herself as an actress in recent times. Here we’ll examine the two major offers that she turned down:

1. Downton Abbey

She was offered a part in the British period drama, Downton Abbey. The series showcases the lives of the prestigious Crawley family and their servants. Her role in the television series was of Cora Crawley. When she turned down the offer to play this character, it was taken up by Elizabeth McGovern. It was not that she didn’t like British period dramas.

In fact, she has appeared in similar projects, such as Great Expectations and The Fall. Her refusal to play the role had something to do with her age. She was only thirteen years older than Michelle Dockery, who played the role of the eldest daughter. McGovern is seven years older than Gillian.

Today, it’ll be hard to imagine anyone else but McGovern as Lady Crawley. Gillian is a favorite among the British audiences and has appeared in several period dramas. They include Bleak House, which is based on a Charles Dickens novel of the same name.

1. Game of Thrones

Gillian turned down the offer to play a role in Game of Thrones because of family priorities. She was aware of the fact that the time it required would keep her away from her children. Gillian didn’t share the details of the role that she was offered in this massive television series.

She mentioned during one of her interviews that her 18-year-old daughter couldn’t believe that she turned down this role. Her daughter loves watching Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey. So the fact that her mother had turned down roles in these two major television series baffled her. However, one just can’t blame her for turning down the Game of Thrones offer.

The fantasy series was quite demanding and intense. Her fans would’ve certainly wanted to see her in the role. Most of them are aware that she is excellent at playing characters that are cold and menacing. She usually plays characters that know exactly how to get what they want.
